Arcadia lodge lake Bunyonyi is situated in south western corner of Uganda, dotted with 29 islands and overlooked by rolling hills where local farmers grow their crops on steep terraces, Lake Bunyoni is one of Uganda’s most picturesque locations. Lake Bunyonyi also offers an excellent option for a little R & R after gorilla trekking in the nearby Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
The name of the lake translates as the ‘place of little birds’ and it is indeed blessed with some 200 bird species including several varieties of weavers that nest by the lakeshore and on the many islands. It is also probably the best place in Uganda to spot otters.
The lake is rumoured to be up to 900m deep in parts, though this has never been properly confirmed. If true, it would make Lake Bunyonyi the second deepest lake on the continent, with only Lake Tanganyika exceeding it.
Lodge is located on the hill and overlook the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi and all its many islands from the cottage’s main building (dinner area and bar).
Arcadia Lake Bunyonyi has 25 cottages and each cottage overlooks the islands on Lake Bunyonyi. Each cottage is self-contained with a private deck for guests to enjoy the view in the comfort of their cottage.
Arcadia lodge is a moderate accommodation offering more of its standards meaning their services are beyond individual expectations. The lodge is extremely fantastic with clear views of the lake and its many islands.
