Kingfisher Lodge

The Kingfisher Lodge is located in western Uganda and shared by the districts of Kasese, Bundibugyo and Bushenyi.

It is situated outside the park and it’s a temperate accommodation in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The lodge is owned by the Germans and positioned in the western part of Uganda adjacent to Queen Elizabeth National park. The park has a variety of Flora and Fauna and a habitat to over 95 mammal species and 612 species of birds. The variety of species in the park has made it a unique park most liked by tourists.

Savannah vegetation within the park harbour Cape buffalo, Uganda kob, waterbuck, warthog, lion, leopard, hyena, giant forest hog as well as elephants. Topis can only be discovered in Ishasha and forest primate found in Kyambura gorge in addition to Maramagambo forest.

Geographers said, “The Park has around 57 vegetation” but in real sense the park has five levels of vegetation thus bushy grassland, Acacia woodland, swamp vegetation and forest grassland at kyambura gorge.

It is approximately 250m from the plains that give a magnificent view of the park, legendary mountains of the moon commonly known as “Mountain Rwenzori” along the Kazinga channel giving clients a closer view to the 2 great lakes that is George and Edward.

Queen Elizabeth Park is 1978km large and it takes 5-6 hours’ drive from Kampala via Mbarara town to the destination, and can be reached on a dirt road. It can also be reached by flying from Entebbe international airport to kasese airstrip then ground transfer to the lodge.

In addition to accessibility, the park can be accessed from Kampala using either a tarmac through Mbarara which is 420km or Fort Portal via Kasese which is 410km. the park can also be reached via Ishasha sector, which is south of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and a home for famous tree climbing lions.

Its attractive views at glance is proudly supported by presence of Lakes Edward and George which are linked by Kazinga channel and other attractions.

The accommodation types range from 2 family units, 3 double rooms, 2 triple rooms and 1 en-suit.

The lodge can accommodate 36 visitors at once and has a number of amenities like: Restaurant with both international and local cuisines, conference hall hosting about 30 people, Beautiful gardens, En-suite facilities with campsites, Fully stocked bar and Swimming pool
