Red Chilli Rest Camp

Red Chilli Rest Camp is a budget type of accommodation located in Murchison Falls National Park is the largest national park in Uganda, offering an unrivalled safari experience of a classic gaming of the ‘big game’ viewing opportunities, chimpanzee tracking, breath-taking African scenery, the awesome river Nile, and the eponymous falls and chimpanzee tracking and habituation are done in Budongo forest. The forest can also offer opportunity to view other primates.

Red Chilli is strategically located to explore Murchison. Red chilli rest camp is next to Paraa on the southern bank of the River Nile in the heart of the park. The camp is just 500 metres from the Paraa ferry, where all vehicles cross the Nile for game drives around the Nile Delta, and from where boats can be hired for game viewing and sport fishing on the Nile. up to the base of the fall, or down to the Nile delta at Lake Albert.

The bar is fully stocked and restaurant below a large open thatched roof with spectacular views towards the Nile. The bar serves drinks from 6.15am until midnight and meals are available in the following schedules: Breakfast 7.20am – 10.30am, Lunch 11.30am – 3pm, and Dinner 6.30pm – 9pm. Breakfast and lunch are Á la carte. At dinner we offer a choice of 3 different dishes daily: one red meat, one white meat/fish and one vegetarian option. They cater for other dietary requirements on request.

Red chilli camp offer budget accommodation and transport, they run some very popular tours to Murchison destination, departing from Kampala several times a week.

They offer the only low to mid budget accommodation in the park, in furnished safari tents and bandas (small individual houses) with public or private bathrooms, and other camping facilities with modern showers, toilets, cooking area and security lighting.

Please also be aware that the camp is situated in the middle of the National Park and as such frequently welcomes wild animals roaming through. Remember they are not tame and give warthogs and hippos (and whatever other animals you may be fortunate enough to spot!) a wide berth. No flash photography please! We also advise all visitors from storing any food or drinks in their tents as otherwise the warthogs will surely raid them! You are welcome to handover any food stuffs at the bar for safe keeping.

The camp has restaurant below a large open thatched roof with spectacular views towards the Nile. The restaurant is open daily from 6.30am. Until 9.30pm. With the bar serving drinks until midnight. A bonfire is lit every evening for the full ‘safari’ experience. Modern toilets and showers newly built, with provision for disabled visitors.

Rates include a local hotel tax. If you are planning to camp with your own equipment you are welcome to use the bar and restaurant facilities, but please warn us if your group is larger than 4 people so we can make sure we have enough food in stock!

All bandas have mosquito nets, electric lights and a fan. Linen and towels are supplied. The en-suite twin and family bandas also have power sockets but for those staying in the standard twin bandas or safari tents, there are power sockets available in the bar to charge cameras etc.

Electricity is available at Murchison from 9am until midnight. Safari tents are supplied with paraffin lanterns at night and there are candles available in the bandas.

Tents have bedding supplied but no towels. Twin safari tents are specially treated with mosquito repellent and are fitted with mesh windows, so careful use does deliver an insect-free night.
